10 awesome things

1. This lunch. Which I’ve had 3 times this week (not 7 only because I ran out of some of the ingreds.)


Spinach + easy-over egg + leftover tofu + grape toms + goat cheese + TJ’s champagne vinaigrette.

I can’t even look at that picture right now, I’m drooling in my coffee.

2. New blends (blogger friends). I got to meet Sarah and Kelly this week for the HLB book club move night/blogger meet-up! It was such a fun night.

We grabbed a glass of wine and chatted at a coffee/wine shop before heading to the movie theater to see Oz. (Which was really cute!)

Sweetest girls ever!! (Also the first people I’ve ever met on the internet before meeting them IRL, haha.)

3. This super efficient tiny-tomato cutting method, courtesy of Rachael Ray. (Used a lot this week, per #1.)

Step 1: Find two small lids (almost any kind works). Place tomatoes on top of one lid.


Step 2: Place second lid upside-down on tomatoes. Press down lightly with one hand (fingers up, people!) while running a (sharp) knife through the crack.


Step 3. Admire perfectly cut tiny tomatoes. Use time saved to lip sync a Bieber song.


 4. Video monitors. Which allow us to appreciate the baby mohawk madness that goes on at night.

5. Costco fruit. Nuff said.


Ok, I’ll say a little more.

When I asked Brent to “grab some fruit,” I had no idea what I was in for.

6. The giant water mug I got at the hospital when we had Mason.

We were recently reunited when I remembered that it existed one day.

Then, I realized that I’m much more likely to drink water throughout the day if I keep filling this thing up, rather than a regular glass or my Nalgene. Something about the straw makes it more appealing, or accessible, or something…

Whatever the secret here is, I’ve been guzzling down water like a mad woman for the past few days.

7. Tara Stiles’ yoga YouTubes. There are thousands of them.

Girl knows her yoga, and has a mean body to show for it.

I’ve been doing random videos when I have time (or, eh hem, when it’s 10 PM and I haven’t gotten around to my workout yet…never too late for yoga!). I’ve been trying really hard to do the crow pose, using Tara’s tips, but I keep crashing out of it. Ugh. Someday.

crow pose This is way, WAY higher than what I’ve been shooting for. Or maybe it just looks different when your arms and legs are 3 miles long each.

8. Garage Band.

I can’t say I like this exact program, since I don’t have a Mac and therefore can’t actually use it, but I like the idea of it.

Janae turned me on to GB in this post, when she mentioned that she speeds up songs on her computer to help push herself during workouts.


I’m constantly thinking, “This song is the perfect speed—if only all my songs were the exact same bpm.”

Well, now I’m officially on a hunt for a PC-friendly version of Garage Band, or something similar I can use to pump up my songs. Anyone know of anything?

I’ll report back if I’m successful. If I never speak of this again, assume the worst. (That I bought a Mac. HAHA.)

9. Ghetto baby gates.

Because haven’t we spent ENOUGH on this kid?

Just kidding. I’ll probably be on the Carter’s website later today.

10. My new blazer.

I’ve been wanting a blazer for a loooong time, but they’re pricey. Guess where I got this?? (Seriously, GUESS.)

Happy Friday! I may or may not be back tomorrow with some weekend reads for you…haven’t decided yet. It depends how lazy I am. But my link list keeps growing, so I’ll need to purge it soon.

(If you don’t see a post, it’s likely because I’m too busy lounging on the couch in my PJs watching crappy TV. Yes, people with babies still do that stuff—thank goodness for naps!)

Thanks Jessica! I seriously couldn’t believe the price on that blazer. You can’t see it, but the inside is a cool lime green silk too. Kind of a fun touch. :)

Haha! Laughing out loud at baby Mohawk! Love the video monitor for laughing purposes too!
Also really funny is that I still have my water jug just like that one from my delivery stay. I agree, I drink way more water out of a straw! I just stocked up on organic produce from Costco yesterday! Love it! Oh and what a great idea for cutting tomatoes! I’m going to have to remember that!

Just stocked up on Costco fruit: pears, bananas, berries :) Have to laugh at Ghetto baby gates, we have used some interesting things in the past too!
