I’m sure many of you have seen this survey floating around the blog world. Well, today it’s my turn to risk boring you to tears with a bunch of random information about myself.
Typically, I’m lazy about surveys, mostly because I get bored writing them. (I mean, I already knew all these answers…) I’m also usually the 14 thousandth person to catch on to a circulating survey, which makes me feel unoriginal and sad.
When Presley assigned me this one, I decided I was going to suck it up and do it….but then I proceeded to stall for several weeks, because I always had sooo many more important things to talk about. (Like local outhouses.)
Finally, I thought: WAIT. This is a perfect opportunity to show everyone my new make-things-float-in-the-clouds PicMonkey skill!
Yeah, I threw in a firework. That’s the kind of utter madness we live for here at the nest.
A. Attached or Single? A softball right off the bat—see? You’re bored already. Chances are you already know the answer to this, so I’m just going to pick a different question to keep us all focused here.
Adventure of choice?
I really, really want to climb a mountain some day—one you have to train to climb, like Kilimanjaro.
Also, I want to see elephants in the wild. Preferably from a fast car.
B. Best Friend? This dude:
I can’t go a day without hanging out with him and I know what he’s thinking before he even says anything. That’s what best friends are, right?
I might have messed that one up. See, I’m so bad at these things.
C. Cake or pie? What kind? If it’s an ice cream cake from DQ, no contest. Otherwise, I’m not much of a traditional cake girl, and would probably go for the pie (a la mode). My mom makes a berry pie with a cream cheese layer that’s so good it’s not even right.
D. Day of choice? Saturday. Brent’s home, so I have live human adult company during the day (it’s a big deal), plus I can sneak out of the house for a gym class or trip to a coffee shop now and then.
E. Essential Item? My coffee pot. I wouldn’t be here today without it. (I’d be in bed—it’s early and I’m tired.)
Secondly, my Garmin. I’m completely baffled about how I ever ran outside or trained for races without owning one of these.
F. Favorite color? Lavender. I have it in my head that it looks good on me because I have dark hair (no idea if there’s any truth to that). I also like black and white, but I’m not sure if that’s what this question was looking for.
G. Gummy bears or worms? Yuck. SWEDISH FISH!
I get them on almost every road trip, to the point where I’m super picky about their consistency (if they sit on a shelf for too long, they get too hard, and it’s no good). I try to check this by feeling through the bag, but sometimes I have no choice, and stale fish are better than no fish.
H. Home town? Rochester, MN. (Although I was born in Raleigh, NC and lived there the first 7 years of my life.) Epic story: Brent and I both grew up in Rochester, but we never met until we were going to college in different states.
I. Favorite Indulgence? We try to keep the junk food inventory low around here, but I do have an emergency bag of chocolate chips (code name: “chocos”) in stock at all times for the inevitable chocolate craving. We like the dark chocolate Nestle morsels.
J. January or July? July, of course. (I would complain about this question, but I’m sure there are people who legitimately like January, if they’re super into snowboarding or live in Australia.)
Since my body is incapable of circulating blood or generating warmth in any helpful way, I do much better in the heat.
Why do I live in the Midwest?? That’s an excellent question…for my parents and husband. (Juust kidding…but my elaborate daydreams about my beachfront retirement property do come in handy sometimes.)
K. Kids? Mason, aka Ma$e.
I’m pretty sure people think he’s adopted when they see us together. The only feature we can confidently link to my side of the family is a crinkle in his right ear (which has gone down considerably since birth—hang in there, crinkle!!).
L. Life isn’t complete without? Did I already mention the coffee pot? In that case, I’m going to blatantly copy Presley’s answer and say family + great vacations.
I’m a huge advocate of making room in your life for vacays, even if you think you can’t afford them. You won’t miss the money later, and you’ll never forget that trip.
M. Marriage date? See, you knew I was married all along, SURVEY!
September 26, 2009. (Confession: I had to think about it.)
N. Number of brothers/sisters? Get ready for a mind-blow.
I have 5 brothers and 1 sister. Steven, Philip, Nathan, Ryan, Kyle, and Keryn. Grand total of 7 kids (I’m #2). (Please don’t make me recite their ages. They keep changing…)
O. Oranges or Apples? Strawberries, pineapple, and watermelon.
(Fine, oranges. Or better yet, orange chocolate chip bread from the Farmer’s Market. Yummm.)
P. Phobias? This movie, happening.
R. Reasons to smile? Health and happiness. Also, Mason has been saying “ooey gooey” lately, in reference to everything.
S. Season of choice? Tie between summer and fall. At the end of spring, I like summer best. At the end of summer, I like fall best.
T. Tag 5 People. If you’re a blogger and haven’t done this survey yet, consider yourself TAGGED! (Cop-out, I know…it’s just that I’m pretty confident I’m the second to last person to do this survey.)
U. Unknown fact about me? I have never mowed a lawn or eaten a croissanwich from Burger King. Brent is horrified by both of these facts.
W. Worst habit? Nitpicking, being a control freak, failing to weed the yard.
X. X-ray or Ultrasound? Obviously…
I couldn’t find any ultrasound pics from when he was bigger (in the 20 seconds I spent looking), but I love how he’s saluting in the top right one here.
Y. Your favorite food? Really good, fresh fish tacos. The best I’ve ever had were in Riviera Maya, Mexico, on our honeymoon.
Z. Zodiac sign? Taurus. Which apparently means I’m stubborn, lazy, and materialistic. Dangit!
Your turn! Pick a letter and answer the question!
