About the Nest

Hi! I’m Kim.

I like to eat, run, write, and take care of my family and my nest.

This is my family:

And this is my nest:

I’m not an expert on healthy living. I’m not a nutritionist or a personal trainer, and I can’t wow you with a story about how I lost 100 pounds. I’m just a committed student, and I like to learn.

I’m also a new mom, which is what inspired me to start this blog. I wanted a way to motivate myself to pursue an active, healthy lifestyle as a mom, and to keep myself accountable to that goal.

In the past couple years, I’ve started to really understand that being healthy isn’t just about working out and eating right. It’s also about nourishing the soul and learning how to find happiness in daily life. I’m a firm believer that you can’t be healthy unless you’re happy.

Now that I’m a mom, I have an additional goal of maintaining my identity outside of motherhood. Although being a mom is the most important thing in my life now, I don’t want it to completely define who I am.

More boring stats about me:

–I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I majored in Journalism and Spanish.

–After school, I worked as a technical writer for a healthcare software company for almost 5 years, writing in geek speak and medical lingo all day.

–Now, I’m a stay-at-home mom who does some freelance writing on the side to keep my writing skillz sharp. (I’m still looking for ways to keep my Spanish skillz sharp…what, Mexican vacation? Who said that???)
