by Kim on August 31, 2012

Time for another foodie penpal reveal! (What’s a foodie penpal? See the end of this post.)

The Lean Green Bean

This month, I got a box of goodies from Abigail over at www.thesoulofhealth.com.

She spoiled me!

Here’s the spread:

1) Fig balsamic glaze. I haven’t tried this yet, but it looks amazing!!

2) Kelp noodles. Love the unique texture of these. I added them to some chicken stir fry last week and it was awesome!

3) Millet and Flax Chips.

These were a perfect companion to the chipotle pepper hummus I got from Trader Joe’s.

Yum.

4) Homemade Coconut Chocolate Almond Biscottis!!!

Unfortunately, I opened these on the day I started suspecting Mason had a food allergy and was eliminating dairy, so I couldn’t try them. Such a bummer. But my mom, husband, and a friend all had some, and they got rave reviews all around!

Abigail was also kind enough to send the recipe along. If you want it, you’ll have to hop over to www.thesoulofhealth.com and see if she’s willing to give it up!

5) Bug Bites chocolates and ginger chews.

Someone gave me a bunch of these ginger chews when I was first pregnant (they’re supposed to help with nausea, although I was lucky enough to have had only a very minor case of morning sickness), so I was familiar with their chewy goodness.

As for the Bug Bites, since I was newly dairy-free, I happily ate the dark chocolate one…

ok

But had to pass on the milk chocolate…

not ok

Sorry about the weird timing, Abigail! But don’t worry-the hubby enjoyed this one in my place.

Awesomely, these come with animal trading cards, which I happily added to my collection.

The back of my card informed me that this was a Golden Emperor Moth.

The kids are gonna go crazy for this one when I get back to school on Monday.

Thanks again, Abigail! This box was such a treat!!

Wondering what the heck Foodie Penpals is?

Here are the details:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

If you’re interested in participating for September, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.

You must submit your information by September 4th as pairings will be emailed on September 5th!
