Beach pics!

by Kim on August 16, 2013

Hey there friends!

First things first: the winner of the Ava Anderson giveaway is Lindsay! Check your email. :)

So, you wanna see some beach pics?

As I write this, we only have a few hours left before we have to check out of our resort. Womp womp. It’s been a wonderful trip, but to be perfectly honest, thinking about leaving gives me this kinda-sad-but-also-pretty-relieved feeling.

Let’s just say that traveling with Mason was about as hard as I expected—times 100. The kid just plain hates to be out of his comfort zone, sleeping in a different bed and straying from his routine. So he was kind of a mess for big chunks of the week.

The first night, he went to bed normally (somehow) but then woke up at midnight and DID NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP until about 5:30 AM. This was after a full day of traveling (including getting up at 4 AM for our early morning flight), so I was already barely able to pronounce my name before I lost an entire night’s sleep. Yay vacation!

The next two nights were better, but he’s been getting up at 5:30 every morning, taking unimpressive naps, and generally having a low tolerance for beach activities.

Except for the “push the stroller around the pool area” game, which was a huge hit.

Anyway, I don’t mean to paint this horrible picture. We actually did have a very nice, relaxing vacation—it’s absolutely beautiful here, our condo is comfortable and nicely decorated, and the resort restaurant makes a mean fish taco.

I just wanted to give you a little context before launching you into this picture-perfect photo album, so you get the full picture of what this trip has been like (and hopefully won’t hate me quite as much). Plus, I guess the challenges of the week are still a little raw.

I’ll be back next week with a full recap of the trip + more pictures, but here are a few snapshots for now!

This is probably my favorite picture from the whole trip: the little dude seeing the ocean for the first time.

He was not very interested in the whole jumping-in-the-waves thing at first, but by day 2, he was running into them on his own, giggling hysterically.

That’s it for now! More to come. :)

For now, wish us luck on the daunting task of flying home later today…yiiiikes…

I know! I wish it wasn’t a phone pic though. :) I actually made it my desktop background and it’s pretty grainy, haha.

Looks fun ♥ But I know what you mean – even without a lil person, I’m usually exhausted by the end of vacation and slightly relieved to head home. Best of luck on your flight! xo

Love the beach pictures!!! Traveling with a child is always a little (or lot) stressful – it really will get easier!!!
I wondered how the flight was – I hope the trip home is smooth!!!

The hardest part was the pressure changes…he kept refusing to drink and would just cry because his ears hurt. I basically had to shove water down his throat until he was forced to swallow…and then he recovered immediately.

Also, carrying a car seat around an airport and onto a tiny plane is HARD. WORK.

I love love love that pic of Mason seeing the ocean for the first time – you might have to frame that one!! And I totally hear you about traveling with a toddler – it is fun, but a challenge at the same time. Glad you got time with family and had some relaxing time, but it is nice to get home and back to the normal routine too! Good luck traveling back today. Fingers crossed that it is uneventful. ;)

I seriously might frame that! Too bad it’s just a cell phone pic, haha.
