Bumpdate: 18 weeks

by Kim on March 27, 2014

I feel the same way about pregnancy updates as I do about blogger surveys: love reading ’em, don’t love writing ’em. My main hang-up is: is this really interesting to anyone??

My previous OB used to love saying “most boring pregnancy ever!” after my appointments, which was meant to be a good thing, and it is, but isn’t it also kind of…boring?

On the other hand, I’ll almost never pass on a preggo update post myself. So other people’s journeys are definitely interesting to me, and I guess I feel like I should pay it forward. Plus, maybe I’ll want to look back on these posts someday?

Anyway, the icing on the cake is that Emma over at Be Mom Strong told me about her new weekly bumpdate link-up, #tbellyt aka That Belly Thursday.

I can’t guarantee I’ll be weekly about my updates, but I might hop on the train every now and then. So here we go!

Right now, we’re sitting at 18 weeks–well, technically 19 in two days, but I didn’t want to cheat the system.

18 weeks

It’s funny remembering how desperate I was to get a bump during Preggo #1. I just reeeally wanted people to know it was more than a Taco Bell baby in there (plus, I mean, nothing beats the excitement of the first time).

For round 2, of course, the belly’s popping a lot faster, while I’m going “pleeeease take your time…we got a long way to go here!”

Anyway, here’s the full story on 18ish weeks, with Q’s I borrowed from the lovely Lindsay.

Baby’s size? There’s a bell pepper in there!

Maternity clothes? Definitely. I inexplicably waited forever the first time (“I’m not really showing yet…”) but this time, I made the transition the second that first pair of pants started feeling tight. After all, maternity clothes are HEAVEN.

Stretch marks? Oh yeah–from last time. (I didn’t get any until after delivery, so this question is kind of funny to me as a preggo question.)

Sleep: Going fine! I occasionally have some light insomnia, but I don’t necessarily blame it on pregnancy–sometimes, my mind just gets nutso before bed.

Best moment this week: Eating real food again after the stomach bug from hell. Ha.

Miss anything? Not right this second, but I know I’ll be missing alcohol this summer. You just can’t top an icy beer on a hot day, unfortunately (and that NA stuff is a joooke).

Movement: Yep–starting to feel some little bubbles and taps!

Food Cravings: Nope. Anything I might list wouldn’t really be a craving so much as an “I want that.” Like, say, Cadbury Eggs. I want that.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Thank God, no. (Still traumatized from the stomach thing.) During my first trimester, meat and coffee were my mortal enemies.

Gender: We *might* have some insight into this :) but I’ll wait for confirmation at the 20-week appointment (April 8). What’s your guess???

In case you’re one of those people who can tell by how women carry, here’s another pic for you:

Labor Signs: Lol.

Symptoms: Some pelvic pain here and there–my old friend. Otherwise feeling like a million bucks!

Belly Button – in or out? Pretty out and weird-looking already. Haha!

Wedding Rings – on or off? On. This preggo likes to look married. (I bought some fakes from Kohls for the last couple weeks of Preggo #1!)

Happy or Moody? First thing in the morning: moody is a weak word. Otherwise: very happy.

Looking Forward To: Is it too early to say D-day?? Erm…I guess I’ll say the 20-week ultrasound. :)

So there you go! What do you think? Interesting or shockingly boring? I do have my boring pregnancy reputation to uphold…

So: Boy or Girl? Get your picks in now!

xoxo

I wanna say girl – just so you have one of each! It’s interesting how much quicker the belly ‘pops’ with a second (but, not that I know from experience or anything). Regardless, you still look as good as ever!

Oh, I LOVE pregnancy updates. Before I ever was pregnant, I could take or leave ’em, but now that I’ve been through the whole thing before, it certainly intrigues me. You look so cute! I’m going to guess GIRL!

Yay Kim!!!! Thanks so much for linking up and using the badge. You look amazing and we are literally days apart from each other. What a fun journey this will be together!
We find out the gender April 8th and I have 0 insight…. wish I did. The belly button is out of control and I have to put a band-aid on it or else you can see it from out of space!
You look amazing and hope you have a great weekend!

Haha the bandaid!! Oh my gosh! I’ve been relying on my maternity panels to keep that thing under the control, but I might have to try that method this summer when I’m wearing dresses…haha.
