It doesn’t seem right at all that it’s Wednesday. I feel like I’m just now recovering from vacation mode and starting the week.
But we had an awesome long weekend! And I have a gazillion pictures to prove it.
When you have a toddler, everything pretty much hinges on whatever his mood happens to be like.
Luckily, Mason was on his A game all weekend. He slept, he ate, he socialized, he showed off for the Grandmas–all the key elements were there. What a relief!
Saturday, we went to a BBQ with friends. There were a couple dogs there that Mason loved–as long as they stayed at least four feet away from him.
Both Grandmas’ houses are well-stocked with fresh toys–always a huge treat!
On Sunday, we visited our new little niece, Roxie, who had just gotten out of the NICU that day (she was born 6 weeks premature).
I’d never seen a 6 pound baby before–SO tiny!! And sooo sleepy. We didn’t see her little eyes open once.
It’s so exciting to finally have a girl in the family for me to shop for (that’s the point of having a girl right??). I allowed myself to step onto the pink side of the kids’ clothing aisles for the first time…maybe ever?…to pick something out for Roxie, and it was heaven.
It’s really unfair how much cuter baby girls’ clothes are!
Luckily, TODDLER boy clothes are adorable. Especially the summer stuff. (Little plaid shirts!)
As great as the toy selection was at the Grandmas’ houses, Cousin Pete’s house was even better. Endless trucks, push toys, and even A SANDBOX.
Other highlights of the weekend:
A trip to Ikea!
I was hoping to pick up a crib, but there was no way we were going to be able to fit it into our already-packed car. Didn’t think of that…
I did get a little white changing table though. (First actual purchase for baby #2! This is REAL!)
I also managed to drag Brent out couch shopping on Memorial Day, hoping to take advantage of the sales to replace our poor droopy living room couch.
No luck. Why is there always so much crazy stuff that looks like it belongs in an 1800’s mansion at furniture stores? Like who’s buying that gold-tasseled leather couch with the lion’s heads on the armrests??
On the way back into town after the weekend, I realized we were going home to a house with no food in it. Emergency grocery store stop!
Mason’s on a Let’s-Scream-and-Be-Completely-Unmanageable-at-the-Grocery-Store kick right now, so thank goodness for those mini kid carts to keep him distracted while I shoveled things into my cart.
He had a blast storming down the aisles, probably irritating other customers (sorry, people in the store that day…)–but at least he was quiet.
4 days and countless hours of driving later, we’re home!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!
