We had a WILD weekend over here!
Let me show you how sarcastic that sentence is meant to be by letting you guess what time we went to bed on Friday night.
That’s completely unheard of for us. We’re both crazy night owls, so we like to play this game where we both keep doing whatever we’re doing way past normal, responsible bedtime hours, telling ourselves that we’re “waiting” for the other person to pull the trigger. It’s really fun and mature.
My sleep was so all over the place last week (thanks to a certain small person whose sleep was also all over the place) that I was desperate for a reset. 10 hours later I felt…a little bit better.
My sleep deficit is seriously beyond repair at this point.
Anyway, I was especially bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Saturday morning for my shift at the marathon expo. The place felt kind of…empty?
I was helping to promote two races, both of which are NEXT SUMMER. I honestly didn’t expect to sign anyone up this far in advance, despite our super discounted prices, but we had a surprisingly successful day.
The rest of Saturday involved the usual:
Look at this stud, chillin’ on the stairs:
Kids’ deep squat abilities will never cease to amaze me.
On Sunday, we bravely attempted to go to church (Mason hasn’t been a fan of the nursery there, pretty much ever). Unfortunately-or-fortunately, his classroom was closed (that’s how gigantic our church is, btw—kids’ rooms actually close after reaching capacity), so we had to take him to the “family room,” where he proceeded to steal another kid’s toy cars for the entire service. (The kid and parents were cool about it, but I knew what they were thinking: who are these rookies rolling in here with NO TOYS?)
Then, in an extra special moment, Mason ran across the front of the room, right under the projection screen everyone was staring at, and dramatically snot-rocketed down his shirt. That’s my boy!
Later, while he was napping, I headed to Starbucks for some NASM study time. I love hanging out with all the college kids at coffee shops and pretending I’m one of them. One girl even complimented me on my coat, and I knew then that I was IN.
How about the new holiday cups?? I don’t care if people complain about holiday stuff coming out too soon—I. LOVE. IT. All of it. Down to the cheesy mall music.
Next on the Wild Weekend agenda: a trip to Target for diapers, which also resulted in some new earrings—20% off thanks to a Cartwheel coupon. (Is everyone using Cartwheel for Target?? It’s AWESOME. I just learned that you can keep reusing the coupons over and over, too.)
We topped the night off with a new episode of Walking Dead (we LOVE it) and my favorite smoothie combo OF ALL TIME (frozen bananas + vanilla almond milk).
That’s it for me!
How do you feel about the holiday season starting now? Love it/hate it?
Anyone signing up for races for next year already?
Any Target couponing secrets??
