Friday faves

Hey guys! I have to keep this short and sweet—I have an appointment with the chiropractor in an hour to hopefully fix my 90-year-old back. All the baby-carrying and hunchback-style breastfeeding has finally caught up to me!

My back’s actually been hurting for weeks (same thing happened after Mason was born), but a few days ago, I started feeling tingling in a certain spot in the middle of my spine (??), and it freaked me out enough to pull the trigger on the chiro appointment. Crossing my fingers for a magical insta-cure!

In the meantime, here are some things I’ve been digging this week…

–Joshua’s newborn photos!

(Can you believe that was shot in our kitchen? Ha!)

We just got access to the gallery and I’m agonizing over picking which ones I want. I’ll post more (including the family/sibling shots) when we get them!

29 clever drawings that will make you question everything wrong with the world (It took me a long time to figure a few of these out!)

I knew I liked Jennifer Garner

–I’m sure I’m the last to know, but a friend just introduced me to the Starbucks misto.

Apparently, it’s half coffee/half milk—what a revelation! (Aka what I do at home every day…but why does theirs taste so much better??) I got mine with two pumps of cinnamon dolce and two pumps of vanilla, and it tasted like candy.

I also felt like a real, bonafide stay-at-home mom, sitting in the Starbucks drive-through with two kids in the back. We were coming from the library, and I was sweating from chasing Mason through the (creepily quiet) non-fiction stacks, trying to herd him to the door while hauling a 200-pound (maybe slightly less) car seat. So yeah—bonafide SAHM.

Also, have you ever seen a super unflattering picture of a wrist? Now you have.

–This image:

The longer you look at it, the more it will hurt your head…

Is blaming the media for our body image problems over-simplifying the issue?

–Did you catch the online lululemon warehouse sale???

–A new plant-based protein, brought to me by my latest podcast crush, Madelyn Moon:

Full review and GIVEAWAY coming next week!

Julie’s roundup of favorite workout capris and tights (I’m always on the hunt!)

45+ fall outfit ideas

I never thought I’d say this, but I bought some jeggings at Target last night. Not skinny jeans—JEGGINGS. $8 and perfect for putting around the house and then throwing boots over to run out.

…Like anyone’s analyzing my fashion choices at preschool pick-up anyway.

Speaking of fashion…

These pants (from the Loft)

I love this trend—how it’s all “I’m totally sloppy, but also somehow put together!”

I’m just not sure whether I could pull these off…and what would I wear for shoes in the winter? Help!

That’s it for today! Have a great weekend!

What’s your go-to Starbucks order?

Thoughts on the pants??

Ok, so I think that it THE BEST newborn picture I have ever seen. So flippin’ adorable. And in YOUR kitchen? Craziness. Can’t wait to see more cuteness!

Yeah, our photographer is insanely talented!

I love Skoop so much!

My go-to Starbuck drink is a vent two pump non fat raspberry mocha with no whipped cream. SO bad for you but so good.

And Joshua is adorable!!!

Kim October 13, 2014 at 2:03 pm

YUM raspberry mocha, sounds so delicious right now…

I’ve heard so many good things about Skoop! Excited to try it!

Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries October 12, 2014 at 5:58 pm

Josh’s LIPS! Oh my, adorable. :)

That photo drives me all sorts of crazy. Wowwww.

Skoop B-STRONG is so good. It’s one of my new favorite protein powders!

Aaaand I’m totally loving that slouchy pant look too. Some sort of dressy booties could possibly work during the colder months! Or maybe pointed toe flats?

Don’t you just want to have another baby??? :)

I was thinking booties too–pointed flats would be another great option, thanks!! I didn’t pull the trigger on the pants yet, but they’re definitely still on my radar…

Giselle October 10, 2014 at 9:18 pm

Ummm seriously those lips! Joshua is just too adorable!
That picture is frustrating and intriguing all at once. I couldn’t stop staring!
Hope your back is better soon! I’ve been there with annoying back pain. Have you tried foam rolling? That really helped me :-)

The picture: I KNOW!! It’s so crazy.

I haven’t tried foam rolling, but that’s a good idea! The chiro said there was a disc out of place, and it’s right where my baby carrier crosses in the back, so I’m sure it’s from that. She recommended trying to lay off the carrier for awhile. (Which is too bad–it’s so convenient!)

LOVE the misto! But I LOVE that photo of Joshua even more…so stinkin’ cute!!

Thanks Katie — I think so too :)

Claire October 10, 2014 at 1:04 pm

your misto sounds amazing, i have to try it! starbucks has been dangerous for me lately, i could eat an entire loaf of their pumpkin bread…and like you said about the coffee, i could make a loaf of pumpkin bread at home but why?! (then id literally eat the entire loaf in a day)

hope the chiro helps your back! i realized that any sling type of baby wearing, always killed my back…the ergo has been a life saver. do you have one? if not, i bet you could find a used one.

enjoy your weekend :)

Kim October 13, 2014 at 3:58 pm

Allison is the one who introduced me to the misto! :) I don’t have an ergo but have heard nothing but glowing reviews of them…I’d hate to invest in a THIRD baby carrier (I have a bjorn too), but it might be worth it to save my back!

Hope you had a lovely weekend too :) (super late on this reply haha…)

I live in jeggings. They are the ultimate bottom for the weather in San Francisco. And I used to order the misto back when I drank coffee. A delicious treat, that no one seems to know about. Have a happy Friday!

Ok, I’m now obsessed with the jeggings. Wearing them right this second in fact. :) Who knew an $8 pant purchase could make me so happy!!

Sarah @ Sweet Miles October 10, 2014 at 9:47 am

I’m thinking I love those pants! Very cute! I buy probably 3/4 of my work attire from Loft, and I love how casual yet sophisticated their line is! And comfy, of course!

And oh my stars, Joshua is beautiful!

YES I’m obsessed with Loft…love that they constantly have 40-50% off sales, too (although I’m sure that means the original prices are inflated, haha).

Alysia @ Slim Sanity October 10, 2014 at 9:37 am

Ugh, I just love newborn pics :) so cute!!

I like those pants too… I need something like that!

It’s hard to find the perfect combo of comfy and cute! I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but still have my eye on those…

Katie October 10, 2014 at 9:35 am

I got a somewhat similar pair of leggings/pants from the limited. They’re black, “pants material” but have an elastic waist like leggings, but have real butt pockets. I bought one pair and am buying a second!
