My Inspiration Board

by Kim on July 9, 2012

Another weekend gone!

Saturday night, we headed to a friend’s for 4th of July cookout #2. This time, I brought this Spicy Pasta Salad with Smoked Gouda, Tomatoes, and Basil from Pioneer Woman:

Not my photo (obviously). Thank you, Pioneer Woman!

I thought the salad turned out great! It was light, with just a little kick from something called adobo sauce (which canned chipotles come packed in, as I learned). It does include mayo, but it isn’t one of those gloppy mayo-loaded messes.

Another thing I did this weekend: put together an inspiration board to post in front of my treadmill in the basement!

The inspiration behind the inspiration board was that I had a Fitness magazine sitting on the treadmill for a long time, left open to a picture of a girl running (similar to the one in the middle of my board above). I found that every time I glanced down and saw her, it gave me a little kick of encouragement.

So I went out and bought some more magazines and started cutting/pasting like a 3rd grader. (Actually, this project pretty accurately defines the extent of my creative abilities. It wasn’t that painful, but I was still happy to be done.)

So now I have plenty of hot-bodied women to stare at while I’m running! (hmm…)

I didn’t have the greatest runs (try not to read that wrong-ew) over the weekend, so hopefully this $2 piece of poster board will help to infuse my body with the energy, muscle, and willpower it needs to power through this half marathon IN SIX WEEKS (!!!!).

Gulp.

I’m pretty nervous about that.

But when I stop and remember that only 3 months ago, I was 35 pounds heavier and hadn’t done any serious running in 9 months, I guess I’m not doing too bad.

Oh, ok.

Have you ever created an inspiration board? Where did you post yours?

Have a great week!
