My (Virtual) Vacation

by Kim on February 19, 2013

I think it’s finally getting to me.

It was inevitable, anyway.

I’m getting the feeling that something’s missing…

It’s that familiar itch…

I hate to self-diagnose, but I’m pretty sure it’s…

spring fever

Is it just me, or is eeeeveryyyyyonnnne going on some kind of tropical vacation right now??

I can barely touch Facebook anymore. Too many palm trees, unnaturally-blue pools, icy margaritas…

It’s just too much. Especially when all I see out my window is white.

There’s a reason that, when I have gone on tropical vacations, this is exactly the time of year I’d go.

In 2007, I was in southern Mexico…

Mexico

In 2008, I was drinking vino in Cali…

LA

In 2009, Brent and I were in Hawaii…

Hawaii

In 2010, it was Savannah with my bro…

Savannah

2011 was Cabo with friends…

Cabo

In 2012, I was 8 months pregnant, so I didn’t really expect much in the way of tropical vacays.

And now that we have the little dude…well, let’s just say the calendar’s looking a little sparse this year.

So I guess there’s only one way to shake off the fever, for now. I’m thinking about taking a little…

Virtual Vacation

If I were on vacation right now, my blog posts would probably sound something like this…

Wow, I’m SOO glad I’m NOT in the frozen tundra, sitting at my computer and daydreaming about beaches all day! Instead I’m here in <generic tropical location>!!!

This morning, I woke up to this view:

beach1

Went for a jog on the beach (so nice/creepy of someone to snap a picture!)…

run on beach (source)

Grabbed some breakfast at this little beachside cafe…

Bought some fruity beverages and bravely placed them in the surf for a picture…

Spent the rest of the morning like this:

Pretty girl at beach reading

And the afternoon like this…

ziplining (source)

jet skiing (source)

Dinner looked like this…

fish tacos

And when it started to get dark…

beach bonfire

Yeah, that was fun.

Now, back to the hotel room to rest up for more of the same tomorrow!

Your turn!

What would your virtual vacation look like? You can do anything for one day, and money’s not an issue.

(To be honest, I’m not sure if this was actually therapeutic, or if it just made it worse…hurry up, summer!)

I’m pretty sure your virtual vacation sounds heavenly. I agree that it seems like everyone is somewhere warm and tropical right now. I’d love to be in the Bahamas at our friend’s house laying in the sun and doing nothing productive all day!

Great post! I was just telling my husband over the weekend that I am SO over winter! Bring on shorts, tanks, flip flops and sun dresses! If I could go anywhere right now, it would be somewhere tropical, most likely the Caribbean, since I’ve never been. Fortunately, we are heading to Santa Cruz for a little family getaway with my parents and my brother’s family in April, so I’m looking forward to that!

By the way, I just found your blog and I love it! I look forward to following it!

Oh man a tropical vacay sounds awesome! I’ve been dying to go somewhere warm, we’re having a cold front moving through over here in Santa Cruz. I’ve even been eyeing how much a trip to Hawaii would cost, just so I could enjoy some sun.

Haha, funny that you’re trying to leave Santa Cruz and the next commenter (Melissa) is GOING there for her vacay. :) I guess it’s hard to compete with Hawaii though, even for Cali!

After the past week of being sick and this weekend’s potty training adventures, I was already imagining myself laying on a warm beach reading a book. Last year we snuck away to Cabo and left our little guy with his Nani. It was awesome! This year we’re staying home, hoping to move but if I were to go anywhere it would be Hawaii! We’ve never been!
