Never forget.

The words that can do this day justice don’t exist.

never forget

Where were you 11 years ago today?

I was in 1st hour biology-I was a senior in high school. Early in the class, there was an announcement over the PA instructing all teachers to forfeit class and turn on their TVs. This was obviously highly irregular, but I don’t remember being excited about it in the least. We knew this had to be something big-and the horrifying footage we saw soon after confirmed that. We spent the rest of the day going through the motions of switching classes, but doing nothing but watching the TV coverage at each one.

The victims and their families are in my thoughts today, as are the heroes who followed the call to defend us.

I was a sophomore in English. An announcement was made over the intercom about what had happened. We turned on the TV for maybe 10 minutes and then our teacher wanted to get on to her lecture about Hamlet or something totally unimportant considering the current situation. I remember being angry that we could not continue watching the coverage and very uncomfortable about what I was missing. During passing time I looked around and noticed several people in tears and many having a breakdown. Most of teachers throughout the day tried to keep everything normal and focus on their lectures but they should have known only one thing was on everyone’s mind.

Sara, that’s too bad. I want to say I had one teacher that tried to continue class, but I can’t remember for sure. They probably feel guilty now…
