(Oh) Christmas Tree Workout

by Kim on December 19, 2012

We’re officially on the verge of our first major snowstorm of the year here in WI. (The prediction: 15 inches!)

For the past 5 winters, this has always meant that I’d wake up the next day dreading the unavoidable fact that my little Toyota would get stuck on the giant hill on the way to work. In the 4 years before that, it meant that I’d be trudging to class in blinding snow flurries, pushing through massive snowdrifts on the sidewalk, because the University of Wisconsin NEVER CLOSES. (And in the 4+ years before that: SNOW DAY! Off to the mall. I know, that makes no sense, but it happened.)

This year, it means that I’ll be watching the drama unfold through the windows of my cozy home, and maybe throwing something in the crockpot. This stay-at-home mom thing has its perks.

That is, until this kid discretely chews off a piece of magazine, swallows it, and then dramatically throws it up on my rug, like he did yesterday.

Or he kicks off one of his shoes while in the cart at Target and we have to retrace our steps all over the store to find it (also yesterday). Or he sneezes the second I get a bite of food up to his mouth, spraying me with orange sweet potato goo (everyday).

Eh-I guess those things aren’t that bad either.

Anyway, I don’t plan on going ANYWHERE tomorrow, once this thing hits. I’ve stocked up on the staples-that’s coconut milk, chocolate chips, and baby food, of course-and I even have a little in-home workout prepped:

Christmas Tree Workout

Festive, no?

I realize how dorky it is, but you know what a huge PicMonkey kick I’m on, and I’m also a sucker for anything holiday-related. It had to be done.

Yes, it took a little extra work to find exercises of the perfect width, without making the workout too disjointed (I hate it when workouts have you go from a standing position to the floor and back too many times, so I tried to make the transitions relatively easy). And yes, that is the only reason I added “toes or knees” to the push ups (I always think that’s kind of assumed).

But who cares. Imagine going through life without ever having completed a Christmas-tree-shaped workout-am I right?

For real, though, this is a pretty fun circuit. It has all the qualities I look for in my Pinterest workouts: basic, recognizable exercises, round numbers (none of those fraction reps! just kidding), minimal involvement of seconds or minutes, and enough reps to make it worth your trouble.

It took me about 6 minutes to do this, which means you could repeat it 3 times, with a few minutes of rest, for a nice 20-25 minute sesh.

Stay tuned for the Easter Egg Workout and the Four Leaf Clover Workout! (I’m that good.)

Have a great day!

And if you’re getting snow dumped on you too, stay safe & warm! (I won’t tell your boss if you technically could get out of your driveway but choose to claim otherwise.)

Love the workout! So festive! We don’t get snow here but if we did I would do the same thing as you and stay inside! I often wish I lived where it snowed just so I can cozy up with a blanket, hot mug of tea and watch the snow. Ahhh…

Yeah, a little snow is definitely pretty, but I could do without the blizzards! :)

Loooove the festive workout! It’s definitely going on the agenda tomorrow, along with staying in my PJs and watching the Snowmageddon show outside my window while I work from home :)

Kim,

With the snow coming, we’ll miss boot camp tomorrow. Dr. Ashley and l will use this as a substitute!

Great workout Kim! I can’t even imagine what 15 inches of snow would look like.
