Hello from the lakehouse!
Here’s my view as I write this:
Not bad, right?
I’ve been making fun of Brent all day for his inability to unplug on vacation, so I’m probably going to catch some heat for posting this. But to be fair, half the house is asleep right now. (The mid-afternoon slump still applies on vacation, especially when lunch was a giant pan of lasagna.)
I’m not sure why I’m not cashed out myself—unsurprisingly, we had a rocky first night here with the little dude last night. Let’s just say there were a couple middle of the night Mickey Mouse Clubhouse viewings and a good 4 hours of cosleeping. If only he were old enough for bribery. (Not a joke.)
Anyway, now that The Dreaded First Night is behind us, hopefully it’ll be smooth sailing from here.
The spot we rented is even nicer than I expected. The house is cute and clean, has a massive deck (aka toddler heaven), and can probably sleep about 20. (The room we’re sleeping in has two sets of bunk beds AND a double bed, for example.)
Plus, how bout this backyard:
Why, yes, that is a hot tub.
And possibly the part I’m looking forward to the most:
To prove our incredible outdoorsiness, we took the rickety little rowboat out for a spin this morning.
4 minutes into the trip, Mason was already tapping out.
Seriously, guys, what is wrong with the ground here? So unstable.
It’s no ocean water, but it’ll do.
He’s almost always double-fisting toy cars.
One of the best parts about spending time with Brent’s side of the fam is getting the cousins together.
It’s been fun watching them interact at different stages. They are now almost acknowledging each other’s existence! (See how it looks like they might actually be sharing in that picture? Don’t worry—the interaction stopped there.)
Well, the house is starting to come back to life so I better resume my unpluggedness…to be continued!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
