Like so many other runners across the country, I’m wearing a race shirt today in honor of Boston.
Yesterday’s events were, to echo the president’s words, heinous and cowardly.
To coordinate an attack like that anywhere or anytime is purely evil, but to plan it around an event that’s so positive, culturally significant, and internationally respected is unspeakable.
The response from the running community has been incredibly powerful. It feels personal.

It doesn’t feel right to blog about anything else today. I can’t stop thinking about that 8-year-old boy, or the people who’ll never walk on their legs again.
Horrifying.
Senseless.
Enough.

It is awful and I still can’t believe why anyone would want to inflict harm on innocent people! The picture of the little boy is heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine what all of the families are going through right now. My heart goes out to them.

Oh my gosh, that last picture broke my heart… And you’re right: it really does feel so personal. I’m so glad the President used the word ‘cowardly’ in describing the evil that happened… it’s all so heartbreaking, but good WILL persevere ♥

That last picture really hit me too. I can’t imagine what his family is going through right now.
