Sweaty survey

by Kim on April 26, 2013

I’m dying to tell you about my first hot yoga class experience, but it’ll have to wait because I’m still mentally recovering I already had a fun Friday post on tap.

Here’s a preview though: as I was laying down my mat at the beginning of the class, I was already seriously considering quitting. Yeah. 105 degrees is NO. JOKE.

Anyway, I wanted to do something fun today because it’s Friday and IT’S SUPPOSED TO HIT 65 DEGREES OUT, which means I’m in an awesome mood.

Here’s the deal: I’ve seen a couple fun running surveys floating around the blog world lately—like this one and this one—and while I’m loving reading people’s responses to them, I keep thinking, why the runner exclusivity?

So I decided to create my own genericized fitness survey. You’re welcome to play along!

Sweaty Survey

1. Which are you more responsive to during a workout: positive encouragement or peer pressure?

2. What’s something on your fitness bucket list?

3. Would you rather be in a group fitness class that’s overwhelmingly crowded or awkwardly empty?

4. Rank these activities in order of your preference/interest (favorite to least favorite): running, Zumba, yoga, Cross Fit, swimming, hiking, biking, pilates, kickboxing, sports that involve balls, spinning, weight lifting.

5. Would you rather work out next to someone with major B.O. or someone who grunts constantly?

6. What’s your standard workout wear? (T-shirt/tank top, shorts/capris?)

7. Favorite post-workout snack?

8. Which are your strongest muscles? Most neglected?

9. Would you rather be trained by Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper? (Or a favorite celeb trainer of your choice!)

10. What’s one thing you’ve learned about fitness or your body in the last year?

AND…GO!

Here are my answers:

1. Which are you more responsive to during a workout: positive encouragement or peer pressure?

I definitely respond to both, but peer pressure is a stronger influencer for me. I’ll think I’m working hard in BodyPump until I look over and see a tiny girl next to me with weights twice the size of mine—and all of a sudden, whaddya know, I’m a lot stronger than I thought.

2. What’s something on your fitness bucket list?

I’d love to climb a mountain someday—one you have to train for, like Kilimanjaro.

3. Would you rather be in a group fitness class that’s super crowded or awkwardly empty?

Empty! I hate being squashed into uber-crowded classes and having to worry about accidentally body-slamming my neighbors the whole time. Plus, in a smaller class, I have the added peer pressure of knowing the instructor is probably checking up on me more.

4. Rank these activities in order of your preference/interest (favorite to least favorite): running, Zumba, yoga, Cross Fit, swimming, hiking, biking, pilates, kickboxing, sports that involve balls, spinning, weight lifting.

Running, yoga, hiking, weight lifting (well, BodyPump anyway), kickboxing, biking, pilates, swimming, spinning, sports that involve balls, Cross Fit, Zumba. (No offense, Zumba!! Just not my thing.)

5. Would you rather work out next to someone with major B.O. or someone who grunts constantly?

I’ll take the grunter. I have such a low tolerance for BO! Bleck.

6. What’s your standard workout wear? (T-shirt/tank top, shorts/capris?)

Tank and shorts for running, capris and a long tank for yoga.

7. Favorite post-workout snack?

Definitely fruit/protein smoothies. I’ve been obsessed lately!

8. Which are your strongest muscles? Most neglected?

I guess my quads/hamstrings are probably my strongest. Most neglected are definitely my back and shoulder muscles.

9. Would you rather be trained by Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper? (Or a favorite celeb trainer of your choice!)

Jillian! Or maybe Chalene Johnson—she might have the most infectiously positive personality I’ve ever seen.

10. What’s one thing you’ve learned about fitness or your body in the last year?

I can run faster than I thought! I’m still learning this, actually. Maybe I’ll keep learning it all the way to a medal stand someday…(BIG dreams).

Your turn! Pick a question and answer it.

What’s the weather like for you today?

I think I’m finally in a place where I can handle the responses to that without plummeting into a jealous depression. :)

Great survey! I’m with you on the Zumba, just not my thing and I have given it a try more than once. I can’t stand when someone has B.O.! Ugh, so gross! I’d definitely take a grunter over that!

Agreed!! BO is so distracting, and I’m not very good at breathing out of my mouth. :)

I would definitely pick Chalean Johnson (or maybe Shaun T).

Running zumba AND yoga all have to be ranked? I can’t! I like them all so much!
