Sorry if that title led you to believe this might be an Official Top Ten. It’s not. But I DO have the next TT in the books for next Friday, so set your reminders, create your events, circle the date on your calendars—do whatever you have to do to get your BUTT HERE on that day. IT. WILL. BE. EPIC.
And now I’ve overhyped it, and it’s going to suck. Disregard above advice and go about your business as usual that day.
What I wanted to do today was share some the workout clothes I’m obsessing over right now. Since I can’t afford all any of these things, posting them here is just a therapeutic gesture that says, “I appreciate your existence, and I enjoy staring at you as you hover amongst other equally beautiful things on my computer screen…but I can also live without you.” (Pinterest, you know what I’m talking about.)
All of the images below are copied directly from my Fitness Pinterest board, so if you like what you see and would like to therapeutically ogle more such things in the future, feel free to follow me. (I’m not social-media-savvy enough to understand what having lots of Pinterest followers does for me yet, so that was not a plug by any means. Just giving credit where credit’s due.)
By the way, I’m not listing these in the order that I like them…except for this one. This tank top actually is #1, and IMO, it easily blows away the rest of the list.
2) Lululemon Back on Track Tank
This is a close second in the tank top department.
For those who prefer a slightly less-prominent bra display. (Click the link to see the back, and you’ll know what I mean.)
I also like the drawstringed-or-not option on the hemline (depending on whether you’re having a fat day or a skinny day?).
3. Old Navy Active Compression Jacket
I know you were starting to feel a little anxiety creep in after seeing those two lulu price tags (remember? we look & obsess over, but don’t actually purchase??), so let’s ratchet it back with this nice $32 Old Navy jacket.
Everybody’s been buzzing about the new ON active wear line, and I’ll admit I’m not too wild about it (of course, I guess I’m comparing to lulu…), but THIS JACKET, I love.
It’s the monkey thumbs that get me. I’m weird about sleeve lengths, but you can’t go wrong with monkey thumbs. (Do you call them that? I’m pretty sure I learned that term from North Face, but maybe they’re the only ones who use it, and now they’re embarrassed because it hasn’t caught on as planned. Maybe it’s like the Mean Girls’ “fetch” of the fitness world.)
4. Under Armour Perfect Shape Pants
Among the (long) list of things I’m weird about is the amount of flare in workout pant legs. They can’t be too flared, so they flap around when I run, but they also can’t be too narrow, since that makes my running shoes look like massive cinderblocks underneath them.
The only yoga pants I’ve ever been able to find that have the PERFECT amount of flare are a cheap pair from Express (which are saggy at the waistband and generally horrible in all other areas except the flare amount, unfortunately).
But I really think this pair could change all that. Plus, grey/black with a hint of pink is my go-to color combo.
5. Sweaty Bands Polka-Dot Headband
I’m one of those people who’s always skeptical about headbands for working out—it’s going to SLIP and then I will DIE—so I usually stick with bobby pins to pull my hair off my face. However, bobby pins are not very cute and, from what I can find, are not available in polka-dot patterns.
Plus, I’ve heard great things about this brand via my fellow bloggers. Maybe someday I’ll be able to give them a try. (Sweaty Bands: hi! Email me!)
Ok, I gave you a little break—now, back to tank tops.
I guess the bra-reveal-in-the-back thing is popular right now. Here’s Zella’s version (click to see the droopy back).
More than the peekaboo-bra thing, I’m into the whole loose-in-the-tummy thing, when it’s paired with a thick banded hemline. Recently had a baby? Or maybe just a food baby? No problem!
7. Lululemon Astro Wunder Under Crop
This is my favorite crop pant right now. Oh, whaddya know, black + pink.
8. Lululemon Brisk Run Neck Warmer
I’m not 100% sure why I’m including this, because let’s be honest, I don’t run outside in the winter. But I have done it before, and can attest to the fact that the neck and face are definite cold-weather problem areas. And if I did do it now, I’d invest in something like this.
This is genius because it has a continuous drawstring (all one string, so the ends aren’t bouncing up onto your chin the whole time). It can also be pulled up and secured over the face (as well as, judging by the pictures on lulu’s site, the entire head??).
(Sorry about all the lulu stuff—I can’t afford it either. But if you live in Long Island, you lucky lucky duck, you will be able to in February.)
As much as I love a good perfectly-flared pant, leggings have their place too. Like in my closet.
10. Under Armour FTHA Shield Running Shoes
Lately, I’ve been thinking that, when I write my novel and it reaches the bestseller’s list (in other words, when I can afford to own multiple pairs of running shoes at one time), I’d like to invest in some lighter/slimmer/faster running shoes. Something like these.
(*cough* black and pink *cough*)
So, I think that’s *all* I need right now! (Har har)

I may have a lulu addiction.
Haha, oh man. You can’t tell me these things… :)
I had no idea my auto correct on my phone messed up my comment so badly. Seriously, forgive me. Normally I can spell. :)
Haha, no worries. From what I’ve seen online, it could be much worse. :)
Love my lulumon! Shame its so expensive but I love all the ones you picked out. :) A girl can dream of looking good!
If you have a Hautelook account, they just had a New Balance sale go on! They’re starting a new thing called “fitness Thursday” (I think) that has cute fitness apparel for a steal.
A girl can definitely dream. :)
Thanks for the tip on the sale! I don’t have Hautelook, but I think I saw the same sale through Zulily yesterday.
Wunder unders are awesome. Not the best rise for
Running, but so comfy. Get the lulu top you want because it will probably be gone. The cute colors go way too quickly.
I’ve heard te thumbhole thing called a cuffin (cuff/mitten). Also I honk Nordstrom has some of their open back tanks on sale.
Thanks for the advice, Erin! Ha, I’ve never heard cuffin, that’s awesome. Can’t everyone just pick a name for these things and go with it?
